Safer Roads, Lower Costs: A Better Deal for Mississauga Drivers

When I talk to residents about the cost of living in Mississauga, one expense comes up again and again: auto insurance. For families who rely on their cars to get to work, take their kids to school, and get around our city, rising premiums are putting another strain on household budgets.

In the last three years, nearly 21,000 vehicles were stolen in Peel Region, and almost half of those were stolen right here in Mississauga. That doesn't just hurt the people whose vehicles are stolen. It affects all of us through higher insurance costs.

Mississauga also has a responsibility to make our roads safer and better maintained. Potholes, cracked pavement, and roads that aren't repaired quickly can cause unnecessary wear and tear on vehicles, adding another cost for drivers who are already paying more to insure their cars.

These are problems a municipal government can actually do something about. We need to fix our roads faster and make sure infrastructure problems are addressed before they become bigger and more expensive problems for residents. We also need to work with Peel Regional Police to crack down on auto theft and make Mississauga a harder place for organized car theft networks to operate.

That means better coordination with police, stronger prevention efforts, and a mayor who treats auto theft as the serious problem it is.

As mayor, I will make fixing our roads faster and fighting auto theft a priority. I will work with Peel Regional Police to improve prevention and deterrence, while making sure Mississauga gets its fair share of policing resources.

We can't control every factor that determines your insurance premium. But we can control what happens on our roads and how seriously we take auto theft.

Mississauga drivers deserve better. I'll fight to make owning and driving a car in our city safer and more affordable.
