Transit: Mississauga Is Growing. Our Transit Needs to Keep Up.

A few weeks ago, I was speaking with a Mississauga resident who told me that getting across the city can sometimes feel harder than it should. Whether it's getting to work, taking the kids to school, or simply getting across town, too much time is being lost sitting in traffic or waiting for transit.

Mississauga is a growing city, and our transit system needs to keep up. A strong public transit network is necessary to keep our city moving and reduce gridlock. The more reliable and extensive our transit system is, the more choices residents have to get around.

Better transit benefits everyone. When more residents have a reliable alternative to driving, there are fewer cars on our roads and less pressure on our already-congested streets. Even if you don't use public transit regularly, you benefit from a system that gives people more ways to get around.

But expanding transit requires investment, and we need to make sure Mississauga taxpayers aren't left carrying the entire cost. The provincial government has an important role to play in funding the infrastructure our growing city needs.

As Mayor, I will work with the Government of Ontario to unlock provincial funding for transit expansion and ensure Mississauga gets its fair share. By securing provincial support, we can expand our transit network without putting the cost on riders through higher fares.

Mississauga needs a transit system that is reliable, accessible, and built for the city we are becoming. We should be giving residents more choices, not forcing everyone to depend on a car to get around.

As Mayor, I will fight for the investments Mississauga needs to expand transit, reduce gridlock, and keep our city moving. Better transit means more choices for residents and a better-connected Mississauga.
